FAQ

Have questions? Read some of our frequently asked questions about Youth Fest.

I’ve just turned 18, can I still attend Youth Fest?

Unfortunately no, but young people 18 years and older may register as a volunteer helper at Youth Fest, where you will have some free time to enjoy the show. Read about volunteering here.

Can parents & guardians attend Youth Fest?

Youth Fest is only for young people between the ages of 12 and 17. Parents and guardians may not pass through the entry unless they are a registered volunteer or contractor in line with our Child Safe Management Plan.

Are there food & drinks?

Bring a reusable water bottle, comfortable clothing and any personal items like medications (notify our Care Bear Team in advance if you have medical needs). Avoid bringing valuables, as we cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items. Card payments are preferred for food and drinks, so bring a debit/credit card if possible.

Is the event accessible for young people with disabilities or special needs?

Yes, Youth Fest is committed to accessibility. The venue is wheelchair-accessible, with accessible restrooms and designated viewing areas. If you have specific needs (e.g., sensory sensitivities, mobility aids, or medical requirements), please contact us at seeyou@youthfest.au at least two weeks before the event so we can make accommodations. A quiet space will be available for those needing a break from loud music or crowds. Our “Care Bear Team” are all trained in child safety, disability awareness and mental health first aid to support young people with diverse needs. They are easily identifiable by their bright pink vests and are available throughout the event to assist with navigation, sensory support, or any other accommodation.

Is this a safe event for young people?

Youth Fest is an event for young people aged 12-17. Our dedicated team of youth workers, community volunteers and security team have been selected to create a safe event for young people.

What safety measures are in place to protect attendees?

At Youth Fest, safety is our top priority. Our Child Safe Management Plan includes:

All staff and volunteers are screened with Working With Children Checks (WWCC) and trained in child safety protocols.

  • A dedicated ‘Care Bear Team’ of trained youth workers is available throughout the event for support.
  • On-site security and first aid personnel are present to handle emergencies.
  • Clear signage and designated safe zones for attendees needing assistance.
  • A strict code of conduct for all attendees, with zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, or unsafe behavior.

Please be aware that this event features loud music, flashing lights and a crowd of people in a contained space. If any of our young guests need assistance at the event, they can approach any of our ‘care bear team’ at the venue.
